The apostle John explains: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15-17 The devil uses the world to keep you entertained with all its lust and away from God. The enemy is persistently offering to your eyes things you want to possess and you are constantly working trying to obtain them. And finally, he works on your ego and pride — you want power, honor, recognition, money, fame — but where is God in your life? Jesus gave a big warning about the world and your eternal life: For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? [Mat. 16:26] — this is the situation between the spirit man in each of us and the flesh man, which is our body. Solomon, who was a king with a lot of wisdom, said about the situation with the body and the spirit once we die:
Yes, we die and our body goes back to dust, but the spirit does not die, it continues to exist, as Solomon explained. But if your spirit has not been regenerated; if you have never experienced repentance of your sins, forgiveness of your sins, and if your sins have not been washed in Jesus Christ’s blood, you will be denied entrance into God’s Kingdom. Why? Because that is the prerequisite to enter God’s Kingdom. You will be sent into eternal condemnation. At that time you will try to negotiate, but you cannot offer God anything in exchange for your soul. The truth is that you spent your whole life going after the things of this world: education, money, family, power, fame and things that would make your life enjoyable. But you were never really serious about the things of God, about a relationship with Him, and about your personal salvation. You might say: “I believe in God.” But that is not enough: He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4 Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 When you die is your spirit/soul ready to meet its Maker?
